The Tenggeli Desert, Pt. 1 Camel Riding and ATV-ing

Our tour to the Tenggeli desert had to have been one of the most photogenic places I have ever visited. I shot with a circular polarizer on my lens, but even without it, everything came out so contrasty. Is that a word? Contrasty? Anyway. Here we go.

The Tenggeli Desert

Pathway to the desert

Camel-clerks

Say hello to the camels

Camel ride to the inner desert

Camel #8 - luckiest number in China

Desert-beetle

Two little girls

desert jeep ride

Crazy skies

Caroline coming down the watch tower

Soccer, truly an international, ubiquitous sport

Cool looking wind-mills

One of the most interesting restrooms I've ever seen

Like all the other "wc"s in China though, it was not very pleasant smelling from the inside. Cool view of the outside though.

Ostrich farm?

Dimitri is a big pop star in Russia. Apparently he also knows how to ride big ostriches as well.

Three...

Two...

One....blast off!

Peace ouut!

The Tenggeli Desert, Pt. 2

We pass by the drum tower (pic 1) and an Olympic post opening ceremony stage that they were in the process of building near the desert.

Posing with smiles to begin the second half of our day.

'Sand-sledding' would be the event of the day, along with a cable car ride back up. If you wanted to, you also could've opted for zip lining across the yellow (dirt) river. It was a long, steep way down....

Pic 1 shows the cable car ride back up. In the second photo, I over heard these guys saying to each other, "These out of country fools, did they not see how steep that sand dune is?" I sat there waiting for Caroline to work her way down. Is she gonna chicken out?

Just kidding. It was safe as can be as you see Caroline ripping her way down above. Though at one point it did get really fast and I had to pull my brakes a little bit. I've done this once in Inner-Mongolia, but that slope was not nearly as steep and the sled did not go as fast either.

Clearing out sand-filled shoes and taking a break after a long day at the desert.

And that concludes our part of the trip at the Tenggeli desert.
