Day 1 was actually an evening spent in Bejing where we stayed for the night, and woke up the following morning for a flight to Yinchuan. So more appropriately, this entry should be titled day 0.5 and 1.

Our arrival in Yinchuan.
First stop: The Toilet, which in China, they often abbreviate as WC (wash closet).
On our way to the hotel....
Those characters are pronounced "Xi Lai Deng Da Fan Dian". Now lets dig deeper into the 'Xi Lai Deng' part. That sounds like a literal Chinese translation for 'Sheraton'. Basically, this is a knock-off Sheraton where we stayed.
I cannot fathom why they do this in China - they combine the shower head, sink, and toilet all within the same unit (I experienced the same thing, for a whole summer mind you, when I dormed at BNU many years ago). It's like a three-fer. Three for one. Efficiency I suppose?
